There are many options and careers available with the right credential. You can work or advance in college sports management, recreational sports management, sports marketing, event management, sports finance, sports economics, sports law, manufacturing of equipment and more. Our unique, expert-led certificate will help you develop your critical thinking skills around sports management while building a portfolio of work.

In this course series, you’ll focus on a variety of areas. You will build essential administration skills to help you work with others in the field. You’ll look at data analytics as a way of increasing your high-quality, targeted marketing efforts. You will consider facilities management and learn the detailed ins and outs of what this entails. And you’ll learn about the legal aspects and how to manage risks while also carefully managing finances.

  • Mark Massari

    Mark Massari is currently VP for Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment overseeing the West region for the national sports marketing and collegiate multimedia rights holder, which includes the West Coast Conference and several of its member institutions. Massari spent three years at Oregon State as Deputy Athletics Director and previously worked as the AD at UC-Santa Barbara. On the rights holder side, Mark has four years of experience from Learfield and three years managing broadcast sales for the NFL's San Francisco 49ers. Massari spent five years with the University of Miami (FL) directing the Hurricanes sports marketing efforts.

    He serves on the Board of Directors for the national non-profit youth initiative Positive Coaching Alliance chapter in Portland, Oregon.
    Mark is an instructor in the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center at the Lunquist College of Business at the University of Oregon. 
    The Napa, Calif., native was a four-year football student-student at Sacramento State University, earning a degree in history. He has a masters degree from Duquesne University.

  • Jeff Geremia

    Director of Facilities, ESPN Los Angeles


    A Sacramento native, Geremia graduated with a Film and Television Production degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles in 2004.   Since then, Jeff has enjoyed a long and productive career at ESPN, where he has served in a wide range of roles within Event Management, Guest Services, Business Operations and Facilities Management.

    From 2004 until 2014, Jeff was part of a team that planned and executed yearly multi-sport, multi-day, multi-venue, action sports events for live television.  He was afforded the opportunity to work both domestically and internationally in such places as Mexico, Canada, France, Germany, and Spain and gained experience in working within existing facilities as well as temporary venues within large cities and remote locations.

    Since 2014, Jeff has served as the Director of Facilities for ESPN in Los Angeles.  He is responsible for managing the day-to-day facility operations of over 115,000 sq. ft. of office, production and event conference space as well as overseeing all Mechanical Operations and Workplace Services. 


    In addition to working in the sports industry for this entire career, Jeff is a sports fan himself, as has taken it upon himself to see have many sports facilities as he can. After high school and during college, Jeff spent two summers touring the east coast visiting everything from minor league stadiums, MLB stadiums, NFL stadiums and even every professional sport Hall of Fame locations, including Cooperstown, NY.


    Jeff strives for seamless guest services experiences for all stakeholders through providing quality service, maintaining visually appealing facilities, and empowering people.
